Purity.999 FINE SILVER
The American Silver Eagle is arguably the most recognized silver bullion coin on the planet. First minted in 1986 to monumental acclaim, the American Silver Eagle's near-universal acceptance has made it the standard investment-grade silver coin worldwide. Issued annually by the US Mint in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, each American Silver Eagle is struck from .999 fine silver and has a face value of $1 (USD), backed by the US Government.
The American Silver Eagle's obverse presents the historic Walking Liberty, originally designed by Adolph A. Weinman and featured on the iconic Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. Below is the coin’s year of issue.
The reverse features either legendary Chief Engraver John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle design or the new Emily Damstra design with a descending American Bald Eagle grasping an oak branch in its talons. Each design includes inscriptions for the one troy ounce coin weight; the term “FINE SILVER,” indicating the 99.9% pure silver content; and the term “ONE DOLLAR,” denoting it as US legal tender.
American Silver Eagles are generally struck at the West Point Mint; however, both the San Francisco Mint and the Philadelphia Mint occasionally supplement production. No mintage caps exist on American Silver Eagle coins, and annual mintage numbers are demand driven.
