The gold Double Sovereign design dates back to the early 19th century, and was minted as £2 circulating coinage for over a century.
Today, The Royal Mint produces the gold Double Sovereign as a bullion investment and the coin serves as the flagship in the Gold Sovereign series.
To celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, the coin’s reverse has a commemorative design of the Royal Coat of Arms from artist Timothy Noad.
The obverse side features a modern profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
Each gold Double Sovereign is struck from 22 karat “crown” gold and arrives with a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) finish. Each coin contains 0.47 troy ounces of pure gold.
